Mars Hill Church was not started in affiliation with any established church denomination. It was started as a nondenominational church by three pastors who were lovingly assisted with their starting salaries by local churches and parachurch organizations. While we maintain great friendships and networking with pastors and churches cross-denominationally, locally and around the world, we do not have any plans to join an existing denomination or create a traditional, denominational framework.
We believe that Jesus is the Senior Pastor of His global church. We believe in the autonomy of local churches, working together to serve our Savior and helping and influencing one another through loving, godly friendships.
Mars Hill was privileged to help begin a network designated to church planting called the
Acts 29 Network. Acts 29 is not a denomination, but rather a network of like-minded pastors from some varying denominations who love the gospel and church planting and work together to begin new churches around the world. In its first year of operation, Acts 29 started 41 new churches in six nations (U.S., Canada, Mexico, Haiti, Brazil, India) and prayerfully hopes to begin 1000 new churches in its first ten years.
